Lust List. #1

Being a university student on a part-time wage doesn’t really leave too many funds to splurge on those special items. As a fashion lover, I’ve spent many an hour perusing online retail stores, window shopping on my lunch breaks, marking pages in magazines and eyeing girls’ style choices in the street. I’m sure many of you can relate.

Not only am I a fashion lover, but I’m also a routine list maker. So, combine the two and you’re left with a girl with a long and constantly growing list of items she is dying to get her hands on!

The trends and items I am lusting over at present include:

The Backpack

The ‘Kelly’ backpack from Naked Vice is the perfect accessory all year round. It is 100% leather and retails for $189.95, which is a fabulous price considering the material!

Backpacks are such a practical option, and can be dressed up or down depending the occasion. I’ve spent years filling my tiny shoulder bags to the brim with everything from my purse, spare coins, books, make up, receipts and tissues – imagine the abundance of things you could fill into this!

The White Shirt

Every girl should own at least one white shirt in her wardrobe. From a versatility point of view, a classic white shirt can be worn from a day at the office right through to Friday night drinks with the girls.

I love styling a white shirt with skinny black jeans (the Topshop ‘Joni’ jeans are my favourite), boots and a fedora hat.

I’ve got my eye on the ‘Button Back Shirt’ from Witchery for $99.95. This shirt is part of the #whiteshirtcampaign in support of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF). Buy this shirt, or any other in the OCRF range, and 100% of the proceeds to OCRF to fund further research into early detection, treatment and support for women suffering and their families.

As a woman with a family history of ovarian cancer, and having gone through a scary situation relating to female health myself, this is a cause I feel very passionate about. One woman dies every 10 hours from ovarian cancer so every dollar towards the fund will help!

Plus, not only will you look good in your stylish new wardrobe addition, you’ll have given back to such an important and special charity.

The Loafer

Loafers are definitely a love them or hate them fashion piece, and I am without a doubt in the former category, I can’t get enough! I love that they offer a masculine edge to any outfit, and also scream ‘chic’ and ‘cool’ at the same time. Another versatile wardrobe piece, loafers can be styled with skinny jeans and a t-shirt, a cute floral spring dress, or perfect for the office (no sore feet in this office, ladies!).

These Tony Bianco loafers are my pick and now I just need to decide between the pointed or the rounded toe! Which do you prefer?

The ‘Lob’

It seems every girl and her mother is jumping on the ‘lob’ (long bob) bandwagon, and I’m not far behind. Celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence, Rose Byrne, Vanessa Hudgens and Taylor Swift have even jumped on board, and now I’m sure that’s a wagon I want to be on!

I’ve been back and forth with the idea of chopping off my locks for what feels like months. I’m a bit boring when it comes to my hair, naturally wavy (fluffy) hair that I straighten every other day, with a balayage because I’m too lazy to maintain my colour every 6-8 weeks, and often worn down, in a pony or a messy bun.

Chopping off my locks to a long bob length would be invigorating no doubt, so who knows? My next visit to the hairdresser might be goodbye hair, hello lob! We’ll just have to wait and see.

The Statement Necklace

I feel as though statements necklaces never really go out of style, and they can serve as an important feature to finish off any outfit. Most of my wardrobe choices are quite monochrome, often baggy and always comfortable, so wearing a little (or a lot) of bling around my neck makes me feel more pulled together.

I like to team a statement necklace underneath a peter pan collar to give a plain shirt a little pizzazz. It can also work perfectly with soft knit sweaters, or a plain white tee and boyfriend jeans. What’s even better is that you really don’t need to spend a fortune! There are so many gorgeous boutiques and jewellery designers who create gorgeous neck masterpieces for a price that won’t break the bank.

MisabelleSparkle is a small online boutique based right here in Melbourne. They offer gorgeous pieces in many styles and for all occasions, so no matter whether you’re new to making a statement or looking for something loud, bold and beautiful, I have no doubt you’ll find what you are looking for and will fall in love with everything on this site as I have.

I’d love to hear from you, what are you lusting over at the moment?

Love is everything it’s cracked up to be.

Love is everything it’s cracked up to be. That’s why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, worth risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don’t risk everything, you risk even more.
